ADRENALS

Adrenal glands are two glands that sit on kidneys and produce many hormones. Two of the major hormones produced by Adrenal glands are Adrenalin and Cortisol. Both of these hormones play many roles in the body. To simplify the matter these hormones mainly come into play in times of stress. Keep in mind that stress does not have to be something major. A simple ringing of your phone produces stress in many people.

Adrenal Hyper-function (Adrenal Stress):

  • Can not fall asleep
  • Perspire easily
  • Under high amounts of stress
  • Weight gain when under stress
  • Wake up tired even after 6 or more hours of sleep
  • Excessive perspiration or perspiration with little or no activity

Adrenal Hypo-function (Adrenal Fatigue):

  • Can not stay asleep
  • Crave salt
  • Slow starter in the morning
  • Afternoon fatigue
  • Dizziness when standing up quickly
  • Afternoon headaches
  • Headaches with exertion or stress
  • Weak nails

CORTISOL:

Cortisol is produced by adrenal glands. Every time the body goes into stress Adrenaline is produced to boost energy and awareness. After stress is gone or reduced Cortisol is produced to calm the body. Cortisol drugs are prescribed by many doctors as an anti-inflammatory.

Low Cortisol: Adrenal Fatigue:

  • Increased anxiety and depression
  • Tired in the morning or all day
  • Skin problems: rash, inflamed or even eczema
  • Dizziness and low blood pressure when standing up quickly
  • Intolerance to noise, Headaches , Heart Palpitation

High Cortisol:

  • Fat accumulation around abdomen
  • Fat deposit in the back of the neck (hump)
  • Reduces Thyroid function
  • Increases Allergies, Increases Infection, Swelling around ankle
  • Loss of muscle tone or Loss of breast tissue in women
  • Poor uses of carbohydrates
  • Blood sugar goes up or the person becomes insulin resistance which causes Oxidation and cell damage
  • Don’t use glandular in these cases
